    Common Questions

    Frequently Asked Questionsr

Is online notarization legally valid in Michigan?

Yes, absolutely. Remote Online Notarization (RON) is fully legal and has been authorized in Michigan since 2018. A document notarized online by a commissioned Michigan notary is as legally valid as one notarized in person.

    How much does it cost?

We charge a simple, flat fee of $30 for 2 legal documents per online session. Add $10 for each additional document. This includes up to two notarial acts (seals). For more complex needs, we can provide a quote before we begin.

What do I need for the appointment?

You will need the unsigned document, a valid photo ID, and a device with a camera and internet access.

What kind of documents can be notarized online?

We can notarize most documents, including affidavits, powers of attorney, wills, trusts, car titles, business contracts, and more. If you have a question about a specific document, feel free to contact us.

What if I have multiple people who need to sign?

Our platform supports multiple signers. They can join the same video session from different locations. Please let us know in advance so we can ensure the session runs smoothly.

    What a Notary is not

Please note: As a Notary Public, I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice.

    What is a notary?

A notary public is a state-appointed official who serves as an impartial witness to verify the identity of people signing important documents and to deter fraud. Their primary role is to confirm that signers are who they claim to be, that they're signing willingly without coercion, and that they understand the contents of the document. Notaries authenticate signatures by checking government-issued identification, administering oaths when required, and applying their official seal or stamp to the document. Common documents that require notarization include real estate deeds, wills, power of attorney forms, affidavits, and loan documents. The notarization process provides legal protection and credibility, making notarized documents more likely to be accepted by courts, government agencies, and other institutions.

    What is a mobile notary?

A mobile notary is a commissioned notary public who travels to meet clients at their preferred location rather than requiring them to visit a notary office. They provide the same notarization services as traditional notaries but offer the convenience of coming to your home, office, hospital, or any other location that works for you. Mobile notaries are especially helpful for people with mobility issues, busy schedules, or urgent document needs outside of normal business hours.

    What is an online notary?

An online notary, also known as a remote online notary (RON), conducts notarizations through secure video conferencing technology rather than in-person meetings. During the session, the notary verifies your identity using digital methods, witnesses your signature via live video, and applies their electronic seal to your document. Online notarization is available 24/7 in many states and allows you to complete the notarization process from anywhere with an internet connection, making it ideal for time-sensitive documents or when geographic distance is a barrier.

    Why choose an online notary?

Online notarization offers unmatched convenience by allowing you to complete the process from anywhere with an internet connection, eliminating the need to travel to a notary office or wait for a mobile notary to arrive. It's available 24/7 in many states, making it perfect for urgent documents or when you need notarization outside of traditional business hours. The digital process is typically faster and more efficient than traditional methods, often taking just minutes to complete once you're connected with a notary. Online notarization also provides enhanced security through encrypted video sessions, digital identity verification, and tamper-evident electronic seals that create a permanent audit trail. For busy professionals, remote workers, or anyone who values flexibility and time savings, online notarization is the most practical solution.

How to choose a good notary?

When choosing a notary, verify they are properly commissioned and licensed in your state by checking with your state's notary regulatory agency or asking to see their commission certificate. Look for a notary with experience handling your specific type of document, as some documents like real estate closings or estate planning require specialized knowledge. Check reviews and ask for references, especially for mobile or online notaries, to ensure they are reliable, professional, and punctual. Consider practical factors like availability, location, fees, and whether they offer the type of service you need (in-person, mobile, or online). Finally, ensure they maintain proper insurance and bonding, which protects you in case of errors, and ask about their availability for follow-up questions or additional services you might need.
